Marvel Interactive Theme Park Tour Cancelled The Chicago, New York and St. Louis Shows!

marvel experienceBack in May we wrote about this awesome interactive Marvel Theme Park that was going to be traveling to several states.

Marvel Interactive Theme Park

This was an interactive, high-tech, traveling theme park that uses holograms, motion rides and projections to take you through training as the newest S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. It utilized a 3D 360-degree stereoscopic dome projection theater where you would climb buildings with Spider-man, smash bad guys with Hulk, fly with Iron Man and fire energy beams with the Vision.

If you have already bought tickets, then get your money back… the tour is cancelled. The $30 million show had previously made stops in Phoenix, Dallas and San Diego before being retooled for the current run. The Chicago, New York and St. Louis legs have been canceled. They haven’t given us any reasons; all we know is that Philadelphia was its only stop. This will be a major disappointment to many Chicago residents who were looking forward to it opening next week.

On the bright side, the minor disappointment of cancellation may be better than the major disappointment that might have been encountered when you actually went. The Philadelphia experience encountered a delay during setup due to ‘technical difficulties,’ and then the attraction continued to be plagued with more difficulties.

marvel-experiences 1 marvel-experiencesThere are numerous reports of audio not aligning with the video, video screens not working and there was no real ‘flow’ to the interactive experience. It seems that if you have children it might have been worth it to watch them go through it all; as adults it seems the consensus was “don’t waste your money.” One article even refers to them as using Halloween-costume quality props.

Overall the concept was there, but it seems to have been poorly executed. This is just another black mark on the books for co-producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris. These were the same guys who gave us the failed Broadway productions Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Be grateful you didn’t waste the money.
