The Return of the Gorillaz! New Album to be Released in 2016 + New Versions of Animated Band Members!

Gorillaz 1

The future is coming on.”  The virtual, animated band from England is planning a comeback.  Four years since their last release, “The Fall,” creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have been hitting up social media with news of future plans for the group.  Their first glimpse is in the form of reinvented and updated pics of the animated band members…

Following a brief hiatus, Albarn appears ready to bring back the group’s unique mash-up of pop, rock, alternative, electronica, hip hop, dub, trip hop, and indie music.  In response to their previous 2011 release “The Fall,” which was created solely on an iPad, Damon Albarn had this to say…

I literally made it on the road.  I didn’t write it before, I didn’t prepare it. I just did it day by day as a kind of diary of my experience in America. If I left it until the New Year to release it then the cynics out there would say, ‘Oh well, it’s been tampered with’, but if I put it out now they’d know that I haven’t done anything because I’ve been on tour ever since.
